"A gente sempre aprende alguma coisa, inclusive a ser mulher”: reflexões sobre violência de gênero e memória coletiva em uma comunidade de Porto Alegre/RS

Abstract

A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo construir com um grupo de mulheres que passam ou passaram por situação de violência os significados de “ser mulher”. Para tanto, resgata da memória coletiva estereótipos e visões socialmente construídas dessa categoria de gênero, assim como esses estereótipos e visões influenciam a violência de gênero. Foram utilizadas as teorias das feministas pósmodernas para embasar o conceito de gênero como uma construção social e o termo “violência de gênero” como algo que traz consigo a carga histórica das relações sociais e, por consequência, as hierarquias perpetuadas de gênero. O delineamento da metodologia é qualitativo. Foram feitas entrevistas semiestruturadas com três mulheres. Na análise dos dados, as categorias de análise desenvolvidas a partir dos resultados foram: violência de gênero, tipificação e rompimento de relações abusivas, memória coletiva e estereótipos de gênero, e reconstrução do “ser mulher”. Os relatos analisados combinados à respectiva literatura trazem evidências de que a memória coletiva estereotipada da mulher baseada em definições essencialistas colabora com a manutenção da violência de gênero. Concluímos que, após o rompimento da relação violenta, as mulheres entraram em um processo de ressignificação de suas identidades como mulher. As mulheres mudaram seu modo de interpretar a violência sofrida e de ver as relações entre homem e mulher. Também percebemos uma transformação na leitura do que é ser mulher. The present research aimed at constructing with women who pass through or experienced a situation of violence the meanings of being a woman, bringing from the collective memory stereotypes and socially constructed visions of this category of gender and how these elements influence gender violence. We use the theories of postmodern feminists to support the concept of gender as socially constructed and the term "gender violence" which brings with it the historical burden of social relations and, consequently, perpetuated gender hierarchies. The design of the proposed methodology was qualitative, consisted of interviews applied with the purpose of constructing the knowledge regarding the "being woman" and of the violence of gender. In the analysis of the data, the categories of analysis developed from the results were: gender violence: typing and breaking of abusive relationships, collective memory and gender stereotypes and reconstruction of "being a woman". The reports analyzed in combination with the literature provide evidence that the stereotyped collective memory of women through essentialist definitions contributes to the maintenance of gender violence. We conclude that after the rupture of the violent relationship, women entered into a process of resignification of their identities as a woman. Women have changed their way of interpreting the violence they have suffered and of seeing the relations between men and women. We also see a transformation in the reading of what it is to be a woman among them.
